Dr. Sherif Elsharkawy is an academic staff member at the Centre for Oral, Clinical and Translational Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at King's College London (KCL). As well Sherif is part of the prosthodontic clinical team at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust. He completed his MSc at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in Oral Biology, followed by Ph.D. and postdoctoral fellowships at the Queen Mary University of London under the supervision of Prof. Alvaro Mata at the Institute of Bioengineering. Sherif is currently funded by the prestigious NIHR academic clinical fellowship scheme at KCL. His research focusses on biomineralization and developing hierarchical materials for various biomedical and dental applications. His work has been published in high-impact journals like Nature Communications, Materials Today, and Advanced Healthcare Materials, and recognized with prestigious awards such as the Royal Microscopy Society Lecture Award and IADR Heraeus Kulzer Award.
